Location: Eastpointe High School
Work year: Hours per day to be Determined (approximately 6.5 hours)
Reports to: Food Services Director
Wage and Work Year: Salary and work year per the Master Agreement with Local 120 Affiliated with Michigan Council No.25 and Chartered by the International Union of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME)
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or G.E.D
- Interacts with students in a positive way.
- Experience in the preparation of food on a large scale and/or school kitchen.
- Knowledge of meal components, reimbursable meals and “Offer vs. Serve.”
- Certified by an accredited Food Service Management Certification Program.
- Knowledge of quantity and quality of food preparation, usage and care of industrial equipment necessary to perform duties.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to operate point of sale (POS) computerized system.
- Ability to perform any and all duties required in the kitchen and serving line.
Ass’t Cook General Responsibilities:
- Assists head cook, as required.
- Assumes responsibility for operations in the absence of the head cook.
- Instruct kitchen staff in safe, proper and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
- Prepare food according to planned menu and ensure the product is of the best quality in both flavor and appearance.
- Supervise the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment.
- Assist in daily production reports, inventory reports.
- Assist in ordering and coordinating deliveries.
