Job Title: Special Education Summer Program Teacher (s)
Position Description: Under the direction of the Athletics and Activities Director and Executive Director of Student Support Services the Special Education Program Teachers will develop and implement a summer program to provide additional services to special education students most impacted by the loss of learning from the pandemic.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Classroom teaching experience
- Michigan Teacher Certification - highly qualified
- Preference given to those with Reading Specialist, ESL Certification, Master’s Degree in Education or Social Work, and/or Behavior Specialist
- Ability to work with Staff, Students and Families
- Ability to plan and implement an innovative summer program for 1st through 8th Grade Students
- Adaptable, flexible, and willingness to learn new technologies
Our Special Education Teacher(s) skillfully demonstrate:
- Strong desire and ability to achieve outstanding student achievement results in a short amount of time
- Ability to build meaningful, caring relationships with students in order to exert academic press and influence
- Ability to motivate students and influence their behaviors
- Collaborative creation and execution of clear, logical instructional plans that produce strong results in student learning with a focus on whole child development and social skill building
- Development of organized routines, communicate clear expectations, and grow a positive summer learning culture
- Building a professional environment that is one of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability
- Have fun! Make learning in the summer fun for teachers, students and families!
- Ability to implement IEP goals
- Revise IEP Plans/Goals/ Objectives as necessary
Selection Committee: Teachers will be selected based on fit to the age group, IEP goals for students, ability to improve student academic achievement, and fit to the needs of children identified.

Program Dates:
July 8 - August 8
7:30 to 4:00 with additional PD on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Training will take place on July 1, 2, 3, and 5.
*Additional hour of preparation paid daily, additional training TBD
Salary Data: Paid through Summer Discovery Grant Funding; $40 per hour
