Position Description:
Eastpointe Community Schools is welcoming applicants for an Administrative Assistant to the Principal. The Administrative Assistant performs all administrative support duties required for the school Principal, under the direct supervision of the Principal. This position requires a strong customer service orientation, work ethic, knowledge of district and building procedures/policies, the ability to assume significant responsibility, work effectively, accurately, and independently under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality, with many interruptions.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent, with a preference for coursework in Administrative Assistant programming; prior successful experience is strongly preferred.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well with others from diverse backgrounds; focus on solving conflict; maintain confidentiality; remain open to others’ ideas and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
- Language Skills: Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, staff, agencies or members of the community, verbally, in writing, in email. Ability to effectively present information to the administrator. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Use school budget and accounting software for school/department needs. (AS400)
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in the usage of accounting, database software, internet software, email and word processing software. Ability to proficiently use the following programs strongly preferred: MS File Explorer, MS Word, Visions, MS PowerPoint, Publisher and Excel, and Google platform. Understand and skillfully use on-line web based programs such as: AS400, AESOP, PowerSchool, TalentEd, EduStaff, ISS, Standard for Success, Safe Schools, and more. Ability to type accurately and proficiently.
- Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to appropriately communicate with staff at all levels and others including vendors, law enforcement and other agencies. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with frequent interruptions and competing priorities.
